A large object described as a “spring” went through the windshield of a car driving northbound on Interstate 25 about 2:20 p.m. today, injuring the driver, according to Denver police.

John White, spokesman for the Denver Police Department, said the accident happened near I-25 and East Hampden Avenue.

White said the driver lost control and crashed into the median of the highway.

The driver was taken to Denver Health Medical Center with a head injury, White said. Two other people in the car were not injured.

White said the object, described to him as a “large spring,” apparently came off a car southbound on I-25, crossed lanes of traffic and hit the northbound vehicle.

White said the person in the southbound car may not have been aware of the incident.
