Jhoulys Chacin came up short in his bid for double-digit wins but struck out seven to break the Rockies’ rookie record held by Shawn Chacon. Chacin finished with 138 strikeouts, four more than the 134 Chacon had in 2001.

When Miguel Olivo puts his mind to something, he does it. To wit: Olivo said several weeks ago that, with his average falling, he wouldn’t try to hit home runs. He hadn’t homered since July 31 when he hit a solo shot off Carlos Monasterios in the third. Olivo is hitting .195-3-16 after going into the all-star break at .325-11-42.

Coming up short.

The Rockies finished with a .298 team batting average at home, the fifth consecutive season they’ve hit below .300 at Coors Field. They hit .300-plus in 10 of their first 11 seasons in LoDo.
