Michael Lohan Jr. is speaking out and blaming sister Lindsay Lohan‘s never-ending problems on the people she associates herself with.

“People she was surrounded by – enablers, leeches, whatever you’d like to call it – made things very difficult,” the 22-year-old told People. “It’s quite strenuous to right your wrongs when the people around you help justify your actions. Therefore, cloudy judgment made it easy for her to neglect those trying to guide her.”

A judge ordered Lindsay, 24, jailed last week for failing a drug test. She spent 14 hours behind bars before another judge released her on $300,000 bond.

“People with addictive tendencies do not get better overnight, so that cannot be expected,” Michael went on. “However, her commitment to her current recovery is a side effect of the realization of her past mishaps.”

The troubled actress is “well-aware that she’s at a crossroad in life, and is fully committed to ensuring a healthier future,” says her brother.

“She has made conscious efforts to improve her lifestyle behaviors and to treat this process with great care. In order to continue her healing process, she’s willing to take whatever steps necessary,” he adds. “We – her mother, brothers, and sister – have been there for Lindsay every step of the way – despite what trashy news reports – and will continue to give her our support and strength during these arduous times.”

Meanwhile, TMZ reports that Lindsay has checked in to the renowned Betty Ford Center, an alcohol and drug rehabilitation clinic in Rancho Mirage, Calif.

Lindsay is expected to stay in rehab at least until her probation violation hearing on Oct. 22.

And it won’t be cheap. According to the Betty Ford website, 30 days of inpatient care runs $26,000.

The Betty Ford center has treated an constellation of stars, among them Keith Urban, Chevy Chase, Elizabeth Taylor, Gary Busey, Johnny Cash, Kelsey Grammer, David Hasselhoff, Mickey Mantle, Liza Minnelli, Ozzy Osbourne and Anna Nicole Smith.

Russell Brand is going for maximum exposure with the release of his second book. The comedian, 35, tweeted a picture of himself naked except for a strategically placed copy of his second autobiographical installment “My Booky Wook 2.” He tagged the photo with the caption “Erotic literature? This time its personal.”

Brand tweeted to a fan that copy was “destroyed for hygiene reasons,” which undoubtedly comes as a relief to Barnes and Noble employees everywhere.

His book is said to follow the “sober but still scandalous, sex-fueled star on his electrifying rise to international fame.”

The book, which was released yesterday, shows Brand through the ups and downs of fame, touring, tabloids, movies, and his relationship with singer Katy Perry. The relationship which, he famously says, changed him from a bad boy to a one-woman man.

Paris Hilton has landed a new reality show for the Oxygen Network and intends to show the world she’s not a dizzy blonde, as she’s been portrayed on previous shows, a source told the New York Post.

“This isn’t ‘The Simple Life,’ where she played a goofy version of herself. This show will give viewers a glimpse of the real Paris and her life, which is sometimes quite amazing.”

Hilton was arrested in August in Las Vegas and the show might show her carrying out the community service she was sentenced to for cocaine possession, the Post said.
