AIR FORCE ACADEMY, Colo.—Authorities say an Air Force Academy senior who died last month committed suicide.

Twenty-two-year-old Marc Henning was found unconscious in his room on Sept. 15 and was pronounced dead the next day at a hospital.

The El Paso County coroner’s office ruled Henning’s death a suicide and said he had hanged himself.

Henning’s parents, Linda and Van Henning, attended a memorial service at the academy on Tuesday.

An article posted on the academy’s website quotes Linda Henning as telling cadets that her son may have been overloading himself. She says he may have been conflicted between his humanitarian compassion and his “warrior” mentality.

She urged cadets who feel pushed to the breaking point to speak up and get help.
