Denver International Airport medical teams met a flight arriving from Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, on Saturday afternoon after a report that a child on board might be suffering from a contagious disease.
Frontier Airlines’ Flight 64 was arriving from Puerto Vallarta about 4:45 p.m. with a passenger “with a potentially contagious disease,” airport spokeswoman Sally Covington said in a recorded statement.
Denver Health spokeswoman Betty Rueda said initial reports were the illness may be hand, foot and mouth disease, which can cause fever, blister-like eruptions in the mouth or a skin rash. Airline spokeswoman Lindsey Purves said the 127 passengers were asked to stay on board while paramedics determined the child’s condition. Airport spokeswoman Jenny Schiavone said the passengers were given the OK to leave the plane within about an hour. Denver Post staff and wire reports
