26 Paul Stastny
Age: 24 Year: 5
Still looking for his bust-out season, though he’s been a consistent point producer as a top-line center. A big contract ($6.6 million a year) brings big expectations.
Fast fact: Mostly keeps to himself, but likes to rib teammates at times.
9 Matt Duchene
Age: 19 Year: 2
He proved last season he was pretty much the real deal after being a 2009 No. 3 pick. Lives and breathes the game, and wants to get better.
Fast fact: His uncle, Newell Brown, is an assistant coach with Vancouver.
37 Ryan O’Reilly
Age: 19 Year: 2
Had a solid rookie season, though his offensive play disappointed in final two-thirds. Works very hard on and off the ice, and displays leadership skills beyond his years.
Fast fact: Boyhood nickname was “Snooky.”
11 Philippe Dupuis
Age: 25 Year: 3
A solid training camp earned him the fourth-line center job. Has 12 games of prior experience with the Avs and is known as a good forechecker.
Fast fact: He was drafted 104th overall by Columbus in 2003.
40 Mark Olver
Age: 22 Year: Rookie
He was perhaps the biggest surprise of training camp, beating out a handful of other experienced Avs prospects for a roster spot. Though not big (5-10, 170), he plays a pesky, gritty game.
Fast fact: He’s a native of Burnaby, British Columbia — hometown of Avs legend Joe Sakic.
