An inmate who stabbed a prison guard at the federal Supermax prison in Colorado has been transferred and the prison remains on lockdown.

The injured guard received four “sutures” after suffering three “puncture wounds” in an attack on Wednesday, said Mark Collins, a spokesman for the prison in Florence.

The guard is recovering at home after being treated yesterday.

Supermax did not release the name of the inmate and declined to release details on the weapon, except to say it was “homemade.”

The maximum security prison remains on lockdown today as the incident is investigated by the U.S. Penitentiary and the FBI, Collins said.

Collins did not disclose where the inmate was transferred.

Supermax holds some of the most notorious international and domestic terrorists, including would-be airline shoe-bomber Richard Reid, World Trade Center bomber Ramzi Yousef and 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui.
