DENVER—An interesting blend of activists are expected at the Colorado state Capitol to protest a common enemy—the state voting guide to constitutional amendments.
Abortion opponents and tax opponents are joining forces to protest the state “blue book.” It’s a pamphlet with a blue cover that’s approved by lawmakers and sent to voters to explain measures on statewide ballots. Both groups oppose the way their proposals have been described.
The voting guides have already been sent. Last month a Denver judge dismissed a complaint from the abortion opponents over the “blue book” description.
The protesters gathering Tuesday will be asking voters to ignore the “blue book” pamphlets, arguing that the pamphlets are not impartial.
