“Friday Nights Lights” actress Minka Kelly has been named Esquire’s Sexiest Woman Alive.
In the November issue, the actress, who is also Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter’s girlfriend, dishes to Esquire about how she knows she’s sexy and doesn’t stress the little things as she matures.
“Done with the twenties,” she told the magazine. “I’m confident — confident in my skin, and I’m cool with my flaws and all that stuff. It just feels nice to be at peace with yourself.
“I think my 30th birthday gave me permission to have all that,” she said. “The 20s were a pain in the ass — figuring it all out. What am I doing? Where do I go?”
The actress talks about her transition to fame from a scrub nurse. She was working as a surgical nurse when she got the call that she’d been picked for a principal role in a new network drama. Then 26, Kelly never looked back.
In the interview, Kelly, now 30, shares stories of hard times growing up, her mother a stripper, her father a musician touring with Aerosmith, and absent for much of her life.
Since her run as Lyla on “Friday Night Lights” has come to an end, Kelly has appeared in “500 Days of Summer,” “Parenthood,” and will be seen in an upcoming Leighton Meester film called “The Roommate.”
The weird Internet phenom in which Keanu Reeves is photographed looking sad and sometimes with odd Photoshopped animals caught the actor off-guard.
First, Reeves was photographed sitting alone on a park bench, and labeled “Sad Keanu.” That photo got millions of hits by Internet users, some of whom decided to put their own touch on it — both by sharing it and by creating their own Photoshopped interpretations of the pic.
Then Keanu was snapped a few months later, almost in the same pose as the original photo, only this time with a cupcake, with the news that it was his birthday.
Suddenly the “Sad Keanu” photos are everywhere. He’s been Photoshopped next to kittens and into “Pulp Fiction” and next to the cast of “The Breakfast Club,” in addition to scores of others.
MTV asked the actor about the cupcake photo recently at the Toronto International Film Festival.
“It (the cupcase) was a lovely gift from Jessica at Technicolor,” he said.
“That birthday was quiet,” Keanu said. “But it was a great birthday because I was working, and I spoke with friends and family. It was all right.”
The “Matrix” actor recently told New York Magazine that he found the whole trend amusing and innocent.
“That’s funny!” he said upon hearing about his new “fame.” “So they like take paparazzi pictures and re-contextualize them? Funny.”
Keanu went on to say that given the breadth of what could be written or created about him, the Internet goof sounded pretty tame.
“It sounds like harmless, good clean fun,” he said.
Musician Ben Harper filed for divorce from actress Laura Dern after five years of marriage, citing irreconcilable differences and seeking joint custody of their two children, People reports.
The papers, filed Friday, claim the pair separated in January, TMZ reports.
Dern, 43, and Harper, 40, were married in 2005 in Los Angeles. They have a 9-year-old son and a 5-year-old daughter.
Kelsey Grammer and girlfriend Kayte Walsh say Walsh suffered a miscarriage.
“We lost our unborn child about six weeks ago,” the couple said in a statement. “We would like to thank all of those who expressed kindness and concern but we needed a little time to heal, time to find some solace before we publicly acknowledged our loss.”
Grammer announced that the 29-year-old Virgin Airways flight attendant was pregnant with their first child together on Aug. 12, a month after the “Frasier” star filed for divorce from his wife of 13 years, Camille Donatacci.
The couple said they were expecting after Walsh’s father, Alan, a former British soccer player, broke the news to London’s Daily Mail.
Grammer has four children from two previous relationships. The 55-year-old TV star has two children with his soon-to-be-ex-wife Camille Donatacci and two grown children from his first marriage to dance instructor Doreen Alderman.
