DENVER—A campaign finance complaint against Secretary of State Bernie Buescher (bush-er) has been withdrawn.
The complaint was filed by a Republican activist claiming the Democrat broke the law by using state workers to coordinate his campaign for re-election. Buescher said Tuesday that Nickellette Bigham-Gullette asked that the complaint be withdrawn.
Matthew Azer, Colorado’s chief administrative law judge, confirms that he received the notice of dismissal.
Attorney Robert McGuire, who filed the complaint for Bigham-Gullette, says the dismissal notice was filed without prejudice, which means the complaint could be refiled.
The complaint alleged that Buescher used his executive assistant on state time to help manage campaign appearances. Buescher says courts have ruled the practice legal for state executive officers who are on call around the clock.
