COLORADO SPRINGS — A 20-year-old Colorado Springs man unbuckled himself, opened a door and rolled out of an unmarked police car going 60 mph on Interstate 25, while his hands were cuffed behind his back.
Police said John Winkler got to his feet and began to run but was hit by a car on the freeway, suffering life-threatening injuries.
The incident happened about 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Winkler had been picked up on felony warrants and was en route to the El Paso County Criminal Justice Center, police said.
