STEAMBOAT SPRINGS, Colo.—Steamboat Springs has laid off seven full-time employees to help balance the city’s budget.
The Steamboat Pilot & Today reports that the employees were notified Monday.
Last week, the city council gave initial backing to cutting spending on personnel by more than $700,000.
The layoffs include three jobs in the public works department, an inspection administrator for the fire department and the longtime assistant to the city manager.
Seven other vacant or seasonal positions have also been eliminated by the city.
