Vestas Wind Systems is celebrating the official opening of its new Colorado factory.
The Danish wind-turbine manufacturer marked the opening of its wind-tower factory in Pueblo on Tuesday. It’s nearly 13 million square feet, and the main production building covers the equivalent of nine football fields.
In Colorado, Vestas also has a blade factory in Windsor, an engineering center in Louisville and a plant in Brighton that assembles nacelles. Another blade factory is set to open next year in Brighton. The plants employ about 1,400 people, including more than 400 in Pueblo.
