The Colorado secretary of state’s office says nearly 12,000 registered voters are listed as non-U.S. citizens because they failed to check a box affirming citizenship when they registered to vote.
Spokesman Rich Coolidge said it’s unknown how many of those voters actually are not citizens, but voters also must sign a document saying they are U.S. citizens. It’s a felony for noncitizens to sign that document.
