The Oklahoma State women’s soccer team got two unassisted goals from Kate Richardson and held off Colorado in a wild second half for a 3-2 victory in a Big 12 Conference game in Stillwater, Okla., on Thursday.
OSU (13-1-1, 6-0) remained atop the Big 12 standings. CU (6-8-1, 2-4-1) got a goal from Kassidy Fitzpatrick in the 49th minute and another from Shaye Marshall in the 58th that tied the game. But Richardson’s goal a minute later proved to be the game-winner.
Former Wyoming hoops star dies.
A member of Wyoming’s 1943 national championship basketball team has died. James W. “Jimmy” Reese died Tuesday at age 87. He was one of two surviving members of the championship team. After attending Wyoming, he served in the Navy during World War II. Reese is survived by his wife, Joy. and other relatives. Wyoming said Kenny Sailors of Laramie is now the lone surviving member of the 1943 championship team.
Mammoth signs five players.
The Colorado Mammoth of the National Lacrosse League signed five players to their roster, including Ken Clausen, a four-time All-American from Virginia. The four rookies signed include Clausen, Jon Rae, Ben Davies and Matt Davenport — each a defensemen. The Mammoth also signed Jarett Park, a player the team got from the Orlando Titans in the NLL dispersal draft in August.
