Denver firefighters put out a fire this morning in a home near the Denver County Club.

The fire, which produced heavy smoke, broke out about 9 a.m. in the attic of a home in the 1600 block of East Cedar Avenue, said Lt. Phil Champagne, a Denver Fire Department spokesman.

A person who was home when the fire broke out got out safely, Champagne said.

Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the attic and a third-story game room in the 12,000-square-foot home.

There were no injuries. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
