DENVER—Arbitrators have given ski-film maker Warren Miller a partial victory in a dispute with a company bearing his name.
The Boulder-based company Warren Miller Entertainment, or WME, says Miller signed noncompete agreements when he sold his movie company in 1988, and that he violated those agreements when he narrated the ski movie “Refresh” by Denver-based Level 1 Production that screened last year.
The Denver Post reports that an arbitration panel ruled last week that the noncompete clauses have expired but that Miller nevertheless breached his promises for exclusive publicity of WME’s movies.
The panel also says WME owns exclusive rights to Miller’s name, voice and likeness within the scope of its business, but Miller can use them beyond that.
