DENVER—Federal regulators have proposed $39,000 in fines for a company whose employee died after being burned in a flash fire while working in a confined space with flammable materials.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration says the worker died in July of injuries from the fire April 22 at a tank cleaning facility at Tactical Cleaning Co. in Commerce City. Another worker was burned but survived.
OSHA has cited the company with 12 alleged serious violations, including failing to provide adequate training and protective equipment, and using improper electrical equipment in flammable atmospheres.
The company has 15 business days to contest the citations and fines. A company representative wasn’t immediately available for comment Friday.
