John Common & Blinding Flashes of Light to play TEDxDU + release video shortly thereafter

will be performing next month at the offshoot of TED (which stands for Technology, Entertainment Design). The nonprofit, which was founded around the amorphous but admirable slogan “ideas worth spreading,” will launch TEDxDU this year around the theme “radical collaboration.” In that spirit, Denver singer-songwriter Common is proposing fans make their own videos for the track “In My Neighborhood” and send them to tedx@johncommon.com. In two weeks, the video will premiere as a (you guessed it) “radical collaboration.” It all goes down at the TEDx event at the University of Denver on Friday, May 13.

Summer music festival season is here, mothers

In the last couple of years, Denver has lost two of its major music festivals, and . I’m not saying things are bleak, like tumbleweeds-rolling-in-the-streets bad, but when one or two windows close, one or two open. that takes place on South Broadway has its first 100 acts. Amongst the proud locals stand kickass national acts, Generationals, and.

Colorado acts are making a huge splash in the national music festival tour circuit. Lollapalooza released its lineup earlier this week and three of Colorado rising acts have made the cut. , and will be gracing the humid Grant Park in the Windy City.

Pretty Lights will be headlining the traveling circus known as . The electronic festival will have PL rubbing elbows with and , among other notables. The festival takes a page out of the Lolla of old, however, as the fest will hit 20 cities in North America. No official tour itinerary has been finalized, but don’t be be surprised when it swings our way.

Flashlights get jocked by NME

first reported about getting signed awhile back by Best Coast’s label, . NME took notice of their musical talent and the great press keeps rolling in for the guys. Their EP, “Hidden Behind Trees,” is scheduled for release June 6.
