In case you assume a ‘green’ home isn’t necessarily a good looking home, Meritage Homes has something that’ll catch your attention today at two neighborhoods in Castle Rock, nestled between The Meadows and Red Hawk Ridge golf course. “People like our energy savings and green features,” says Trishell MacDonald, who’ll have refreshments out at Meritage’s models in The Meadows. “But it’s the way our architecture and our neighborhoods look that win over most of our buyers.”

That was the factor last month for a buyer who gave up a condo in the Tech Center in favor of a 4-bedroom Frisco plan in the Meadows. “I love the way that Meritage looks and feels,” he told MacDonald.

“It’s almost a word-of-mouth thing,” adds Cary Garner, who will show you a sharp looking neighborhood along one of The Meadows’ trail corridors. Buyers react to the neighborhood settings Meritage finds in Castle Rock, with open space dotted by Gambel oak, close to the popular 18-hole golf course. “We attract plenty of people from California,” Garner noted. “They appreciate the amenities we have, the lot size, pretty terrain and small town atmosphere. And they have a special understanding of what a great commuter situation this is.”

Meritage’s homes, from $229,000, are sized 1,533 to 2,900 feet…including two ranches (you’ll tour one today ready for move-in, and see the site for another that will back to the trail). On ranches as well as its family sized plans, Meritage designs its interiors to allow for the option of attractive finished basement space, and has 3-car garages on most plans. Buyers in The Meadows also get membership in the community’s “Grange” center with pool, fitness center and other amenities…while those a few blocks away in Red Hawk are just blocks from the clubhouse.

Both enclaves, adds Garner, benefit from all of the attractive growth nearby…including new shops and dining in Castle Rock, and a Centura Health hospital that’s broken ground. They also get the savings from Meritage’s green-builder features, including Energy Star ratings to HERS-77 or better, timed irrigation to save water, low-e glass windows, high performance plumbing, energy efficient lighting, and on homes delivering soon, 14-SEER-rated air conditioning.

Garner can also tell you another way to save money, on those near-ready homes you can see today: Buy now and you can take $25,000 off the price of select homes. To reach Meritage’s models, take I-25 south to Meadows Parkway; turn west a mile to Prairie Hawk, then left a half mile to Fence Post Drive.
