The Broncos made roster moves Saturday to help bolster their defensive depth and add players to the special teams.

Safety Kyle McCarthy and outside linebacker Kevin Alexander were promoted off the practice squad. Running back Andre Brown and offensive tackle D’Anthony Batiste were released.

McCarthy, from Notre Dame, and Alexander, from Clemson, are undrafted rookies and will be asked to replace special-teamers Darcel McBath and Wesley Woodyard (out because of injuries).

Brown’s release should be a good sign for No. 1 tailback Knowshon Moreno (questionable), who missed the last three games because of a hamstring injury.

Key question.

Armed with what is arguably the best cornerback tandem in the NFL, the Jets frequently are able to eliminate an opponent’s No. 1 receiver. The Jets have Darrelle Revis or Antonio Cromartie shadow that receiver all over the field.

So today at Invesco Field at Mile High, what will the Jets do against a Denver receiving corps of Eddie Royal (29 catches), Brandon Lloyd (30) and Jabar Gaffney (31)?

“I don’t know what they are going to choose to do,” Broncos coach Josh Mc- Daniels said, “in terms of matching, if they are going to match. If they are just going to play left and right, if they are going to bring anybody inside if we switch where our players are at. We haven’t really tried to think that far along because I think you are just chasing a ghost.”

Reunion arena.

Nose tackle Jamal Williams and running back LaDainian Tomlinson lined up plenty of times against each other in practice during the nine seasons the NFL veterans were teammates in San Diego.

But today marks the first time they will face each other as opponents — Williams is with the Broncos and Tomlinson is with the Jets.

Tomlinson said last week that they are friends and have exchanged text messages in the weeks leading up to today’s game.

“I’m pretty sure he’s looking forward to trying to tackle me, and I look forward to trying to make his big butt miss,” Tomlinson said.
