GREELEY — Dylan Orms sat alone at a table inside the High Plains Room at Nottingham Field, staring into the abyss. The Northern Colorado quarterback awaited the postgame news conference and looked like he was carrying the weight of the world.
He was trying to get over Saturday’s 35-28 last-minute loss to No. 12 Eastern Washington. Orms played well for most of the game, but his fumble with 1:18 left set up Eastern Washington for the winning 24-yard touchdown run by Taiwan Jones with 41 seconds left. It was part of a big day for Jones, who rushed for 168 yards and three touchdowns.
UNC got the ball back and drove to the Eagles’ 43, but Orms’ desperation throw with eight seconds left was intercepted by linebacker J.C. Sherritt.
