After looking all over the area for a home site that could lure them out of their older place, into something single-level with a great view, Jerry and Cynthia Cestkowski happened onto secluded Beacon Point by Lennar Homes. “Wow, this is really cool,” Jerry Cestkowski recalls thinking, as they looked over some large lots Lennar has that overlook Aurora Reservoir and its miles of shoreline open space.
You can come see what they found today, bite into an Otis Spunkmeyer cookie and some Halloween goodies, and tour a framed-up version of the 3,000-foot Durango ranch they picked, along with four model show homes. “When they find this, they’re hooked,” says Lennar’s Fathi Hanish, who’ll be there with Skip Wilcox to show you the layout.
But in this market, it takes something special to get people off the fence and into construction. “We had our eye on the Durango for a long time,” Cestkowski said. “The lots are huge (19,000 feet), the house is awesome, and interest rates now are…my goodness.” The pair will take advantage of construction time to put their older Piney Creek place on the market. Cestkowski, a magician (Flourishman.com) who has a book out on card tricks, says once they made the decision, anxieties vanished into thin air. “The lake will be centered in the picture window,” he adds. “We’re really looking forward to it.”
That and two other recent sales reduce Beacon Point’s stock of lakefront lots to 16. You’ll also find a choice selection of ranches and big family-sized plans (all three schools, including Cherokee Trail High, are walking distance)…a few homes from each of Lennar’s Heartland and Colorado Series, set for buyers who don’t have time to build. “Whether you’re coming for schools or for the lake, you’re not going to have to move again,” says Wilcox. A few blocks north you’ll see the shorefront pool/rec center (owners now pay around $140/quarter for everything)…and beyond that, the city beach and changing area, venue for windsurfing, sailing, SCUBA, and definitely fishing (a state-record 42-pound channel cat was pulled out of the reservoir last week).
You’ll also see the high level of finish Lennar delivers on both collections. “Other builders are reacting to the market by downsizing and cutting quality,” Hanish says. “They’re going to slide-in ranges and vinyl; you’re going to get much more for your money here.” You’ll also find 3.75% 30-year (4.11 APR) financing, on both low-down FHA and conventional 10%-down loans. From E-470 take Smoky Hill east to Arapahoe, then north past the new schools to Powhaton and left 1/2 mile.
