An Aurora man was today sentenced to four years in state prison after an Arapahoe County jury has found him guilty of vehicular homicide during a street race last year.
Benny Gora Sitinjak, 36, was was driving his Jeep Cherokee at least 73 mph in a 40 mph zone when he attempted to turn at the intersection of East Yale Avenue and South Peoria Street but instead collided with another car, killing Walter Oleksinski, 63, who was not involved in the race.
“There is no question in my mind that Walt would be here today if Mr. Sitinjak was a law-abiding citizen”, the victim’s wife, Janiece Schroeder, said through a written statement read by her attorney. “Please sentence Mr. Sitinjak to the fullest extent that the law will allow.”
