Denver at-large Councilman Doug Linkhart will file paperwork today for a 2011 mayoral run.
Linkhart announced his intentions in a news release Tuesday. Linkhart joins the other announced candidate for mayor, James Mejía, chief executive of the Denver Preschool Program. There is a long list of other potential mayoral candidates who are said to be eyeing a run, including Denver Councilman Michael Hancock and state Sen. Chris Romer.
Linkhart was elected to one of two at-large seats on the 13-member council in 2003. Before his tenure on the council, Linkhart was a state senator for eight years and a state representative for two years.
