GENESEE, Colo.—A gas line break has prompted evacuations in the foothills west of Denver.

Jefferson County sheriff’s spokesman Mark Techmeyer said a construction crew apparently hit the line Wednesday morning near Interstate 70 near Genesee. The residents of 180 homes were told to evacute but, with many people at work or school, it’s not clear how many had to leave.

Two gas lines run side by side there, including a pressurized gas line. It’s not known which one was ruptured.

No injuries or explosions have been reported.
