Boulder deputies now have two men in custody for breaking into vehicles, after one tried to escape early today, but deputies believe a third suspect may be involved.
Boulder County Sheriff’s office received a call about a vehicle trespass in progress at about 2 a.m. today in Superior.
Sheriff’s officers found two people in a dark SUV that was stolen from Westminster, according to a release from Boulder County Sheriff’s office.
The suspects had entered nine cars, according to the release. Multiple stolen items were recovered from the SUV.
During interviews with the suspects, one man ran away and officers were unable to locate him. The other suspect was arrested and taken into custody.
During the investigation, officers were able to identify the man who had ran away and after locating him in a home in Denver were able to take him into custody as well.
Investigators now believe there is a third suspect who was involved in stealing the SUV in which the suspects were found early this morning. It is also possible the suspects are involved in other crimes across the Metro area.
The Boulder County Sheriff’s office and Westminster Police are investigating.
