FORT COLLINS, Colo.—A Colorado State University student who may have meningitis remains hospitalized.

Zachary Ratzlaff was in fair condition Thursday at Poudre Valley Hospital.

Doctors suspect he has meningitis but they’re still running tests to determine what made him sick.

Another CSU student died Wednesday of meningococcal sepsis. Meningitis was first suspected in Christina Adame’s (Ah-Dom-aye’s) death. Both are caused by the same bacterial infection.

Christina Adame’s mother Nancy told KMGH-TV that her daughter only started showing symptoms Tuesday. She said Christina felt achy and feverish and later had trouble talking and was breathing fast.

Three northern Colorado hockey players who died this year also had sepsis, not meningitis.
