Lafayette police are investigating the death of an infant, about 10 weeks old, who died Wednesday night at Children’s Hospital. The infant was identified as Lyon D. Campos of Lafayette by the Boulder County coroner’s office.

Lafayette police were dispatched to the infant’s home about 7:20 a.m. Monday after the father called to report he had fallen down stairs while holding the infant, according to a release by Lafayette police. The infant was transported to Exempla Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette and released the same day. That night, about 7:45 p.m., police were called again and told that the infant was not breathing. Lafayette Fire Department paramedics transported the infant back to the hospital in Lafayette, and he then was taken by helicopter to Children’s Hospital in serious condition.
