NEW YORK — Robin Williams will make his Broadway debut next year in the play “Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo.”

Producers say the award-winning actor has signed on to join Rajiv Joseph’s dark comedy that will follow the fall of Saddam Hussein. It’s narrated by a philosophical tiger who encounters two American Marines and an Iraqi gardener. Williams will play the tiger.

The play premiered last year in Los Angeles. The Broadway opening is set for March 31. Williams starred off-Broadway in 1988 opposite Steve Martin in a revival of “Waiting for Godot.” The Associated Press
