Adams County Treasurer Diane Christner will not be prosecuted for felony embezzlement of public property for her use of a county-owned copy machine to make 2,000 campaign fliers in September.

A complaint against Christner, a Democrat, was filed by her Republican opponent on Nov. 2, Brigitte Grimm. Christner admitted to using the copier to save time and has since reimbursed the county.

Adams County District Attorney Don Quick said Friday there is “insufficient evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Ms. Christner ‘knowingly’ converted public property to be her own.”

However, Quick said his decision not to prosecute Christiner does not indicate “that I approve of using the office copier for campaign purposes.”
