FORT COLLINS, Colo.—Sheriff’s officials say a man who accused Colorado Attorney General John Suthers of assault faces a false reporting charge.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s office says an investigation found there was no evidence to support the claim by Brighton resident Robert Trucker.

Trucker claims Suthers poked him in the chest and pushed a camera Trucker was holding during a discussion about a ballot measure.

Trucker is a spokesman for Proposition 102, which would allow only nonviolent offenders arrested for the first time released without bail.

The sheriff’s office says Suthers has been cleared in the case and Trucker was issued a misdemeanor summons of false reporting. He’s due in court Dec. 20.
