BOULDER, Colo.—Census data show just one-third of Boulder residents over the age of 15 are married, the lowest rate of any city in Colorado.
The Daily Camera reported Sunday that the presence of the University of Colorado’s main campus in Boulder is a factor. Nearly 38 percent of Boulder residents over 15 are students.
The Census statistics didn’t indicate how many are undergraduates, who are usually single, and how many are graduate students, who are more likely to be married.
In Longmont, the only other Boulder County city included in the Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, more than 57 percent of residents older than 15 are married.
The rate is nearly 41 percent in Fort Collins.
