The Rapids will host their first playoff game since the move to Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in 2007 at 7 p.m. Thursday, when they host the Columbus Crew in the first of two games. The second and deciding game will be played at 2 p.m. Nov. 6 in Columbus. The team with the most goals after both games will advance to the semifinals.
Columbus was the second-place team in the Eastern Conference, finishing with a 14-8-8 record. Colorado finished its regular season at 12-8-10 and was fifth in the West. The Rapids beat Columbus 1-0 at home June 5 and lost at Columbus 3-1 on Aug. 21.
