DACONO, Colo.—A young boy is hospitalized in critical condition after a weekend crash near Dacono that killed a 40-year-old woman.

The Colorado State Patrol tells the Longmont Times-Call that Christine Prieto of Fort Lupton was westbound in a Ford Taurus on Weld County Road 6 when she ran a stop sign and was struck broadside by a pickup heading north on Colorado Boulevard.

Prieto died. Her young passenger was airlifted to The Children’s Hospital in Aurora with what authorities called “extremely life-threatening” injuries. KUSA-TV says the boy suffered chest and head injuries in the crash.

His name hasn’t been released. His age wasn’t immediately clear.

The newspaper says 26-year-old Lauro Cruz-Cimental of Denver was cited for driving the pickup without a license.
