Getting your player ready...

University of Denver men’s lacrosse coach Bill Tierney announced the 2011 season schedule Monday. It features games against some of the toughest competition in the country.

The Pioneers will begin the season on the road against national powerhouse Syracuse on Feb. 20. The schedule also features a neutral-site game against defending national champion Duke on April 9 and a matchup against Ohio State on April 16 at Invesco Field at Mile High.

“We are very excited about our 2011 schedule,” Tierney said. “A tough schedule allows the players to compete at the highest level, and playing the best in the game allows them to see what it takes to be the best in the game. We couldn’t be more excited to face the challenge our 2011 schedule presents.”

Denver will host the inaugural Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament in May. Previously, the ECAC champion was determined by regular-season conference record.
