Russell Brand and Katy Perry spent their first night as man and wife surrounded by armed guards after a man-eating tiger gatecrashed their Indian jungle wedding.
The male predator, which has killed three people in the past two years, scaled two walls at the wedding venue on Saturday after being attracted by the noise and lights at the $500,000 event, according to London’s Daily Mail.
It was finally beaten away by guards as it tried to jump a third wall just 50 feet from the newlyweds and their 85 guests.
The newlyweds won’t have to worry as much about the tiger Brand bought his new wife as a wedding gift.
Brand spent thousands buying Machli, a female Bengal tiger who lives in the Ranthambhore National Park where the pair wed.
The comedian reportedly picked her from the dozens of big cats roaming the park as she was regarded by the park rangers as ‘the epitome of beauty’ – reflecting his feelings for singer Katy.
However Katy, who already owns a slightly smaller domestic cat called Kitty Purry, will leave Machli to prowl in her jungle home and the money Russell paid for her will be invested in the tiger’s welfare and the park’s conservation schemes.
The wedding-crashing tiger wasn’t the only problem stemming from Brand and Perry’s big day.
Two men from the wedding party have apologized for assaulting four news photographers, including one from The Associated Press, then taking their car keys and stranding them in the wild tiger reserve Friday. The written apology acknowledged “physical assault” and “bad behavior.”
As a result of the apology, no formal police investigation was opened. None of the photographers sought medical care.
The supposedly shaky state of Lindsay Lohan‘s finances was revealed in a probation report after a Beverly Hills judge on Friday ordered the troubled actress to go back into rehab – but spared her a stint in jail.
“She indicates she can not afford to continue to pay for the treatment program and she needs to work,” the probation officer wrote. “The defendant states her clothing line is falling apart because she is not available to monitor the product.”
Lohan is scheduled to start shooting a movie about doomed porn star Linda Lovelace next month called “Inferno.” Under Judge Elden Fox’s ruling, Lohan won’t be allowed out of the Betty Ford Center until after the New Year – so she can’t make any money.
“We’re not replacing her with another person,” “Inferno” director Matthew Wilder told the New York Daily News, who said he hoped to start production shortly after her release.
“She’s good and productive and thinking about life beyond (rehab),” he said. “I think she feels a little cooped up there, but she’s okay.”
There have been reports that the high-living “Mean Girls” actress was having money troubles, but this is the first time Lohan has said she was strapped for cash.
Meanwhile, the Daily News notes that the popular New York-based designer apparel liquidation site Gilt.com had an online sample sale this week offering 60% off Lohan’s 6126 clothing line.
Matt Damon has high hopes for his now four girls. (Luciana gave birth to Stella Zavala Damon on Wednesday.)
“If I had a bucket list, I’d say raising my four girls to be strong, good women would be No. 1,” Damon, 40, tells Parade.
She is the couple’s third daughter. She joins Gia, born in 2008, and Isabella, born in 2006. Luciana Damon also has a daughter, Alexa, from a previous marriage.
Damon met his wife in 2003 while she was working as a bartender in Florida and he was filming “Stuck on You.” They married in December 2005 in New York.
The actor plays a psychic who communicates with the dead in director Clint Eastwood’s Hereafter, which opened wide this weekend, and says he found the material relevant to life as a parent.
The Governator says he doesn’t need no stinking bodyguards.
According to the celebrity website janetcharltonshollywood, soon-to-be-ex-Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger was having lunch with some buddies at Barneys and one of them teased him about having a bodyguard standing at a discreet distance.
Arnold laughed and admitted he was thrilled because once he has finished being governor he can finally get rid of the bodyguard. He said he doesn’t need the guy and anyway “I’m tougher than he is!”
