VANCOUVER — After Avalanche defenseman Scott Hannan went through the morning skate Tuesday at Rogers Arena, both he and Colorado coach Joe Sacco confirmed the plan was for Hannan to play tonight against the Vancouver Canucks.
Hannan had missed much of the Saturday night loss to Los Angeles after a puck struck him in the back of the head late in the first period. He also practiced Monday.
“I had a couple of good skates, and I don’t feel any ill effects,” Hannan said.
Hannan said of the injury against the Kings: “It was kind of a weird play. The puck hit me in the back of the head. That’s kind of the way it goes. Sometimes you get hit with the puck. It was a freak little play.
“It’s kind of tough to explain. I didn’t quite feel right. The training staff made the decision (to hold him out of the rest of the game). I didn’t feel right and I didn’t want to hurt myself any more.”
With Adam Foote not on the trip because of a concussion, Sacco said the Avalanche would have six defensemen in the lineup tonight, with David Liffiton a healthy scratch for the second consecutive time since his recall from Lake Erie.
