A boy who was injured in a Weld County traffic crash has died of his injuries.

Nine-year-old Salvador Prieto died Monday at Children’s Hospital in Aurora, according to the Weld County Coroner’s Office.

Christine Prieto, Salvador’s mother, was driving Sunday morning west on Weld County Road 6 in a Ford Taurus when she ran a stop sign and was t-boned by a pickup truck heading north on Colorado Boulevard, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

Prieto, 40, of Fort Lupton, died in the weekend crash near Dacono.

Salvador suffered massive chest and head injuries.

Lauro Cruz-Cimental, 26, of Denver, the driver of the truck, was cited for driving without a license.
