Getting your player ready...

BOULDER — It appears Colorado quarterback Tyler Hansen will not lose his spleen, CU coach Dan Hawkins said Tuesday during his media luncheon.

Hansen has been hospitalized since being diagnosed with a ruptured spleen Saturday following the 27-24 loss to Texas Tech. Hansen was injured while being hit hard in the second quarter after pitching the ball to tailback Rodney Stewart.

“Tyler is doing good,” Hawkins asid. “We’re waiting for him to get out of the hospital, possibly today. They’re kind of keeping an eye on him.

“There are several stages you have to get through. I think they’re out of the stage where they’d have to take (the spleen) out. But there are other stages to get through before things are totally normal, in a sense.”
