DENVER—The body found inside a Denver home over the weekend was that of a missing 16-year-old girl.
The coroner identified Alicia Martinez’s disfigured body on Tuesday. A resident of the home where she was found, 26-year-old Edward Timothy Romero, was arrested Sunday on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The Denver Post reported that more than 200 people attended a vigil for Martinez outside the home on Tuesday night.
Martinez had been missing since going to a party on Friday. She was a sophomore at KIPP Denver Collegiate High School, a charter school in Denver.
Records show that Romero pleaded guilty to menacing with a weapon in Lakewood 2002.
He’s being held at the Denver jail without bond.
