A teenager was shot in northeast Denver on Wednesday night in a drive-by shooting that is being investigated by the police gang unit.

The shooting happened at about 9:40 p.m. in the 4800 block of East Thrill Place, said Sonny Jackson, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

The 17-year-old girl, who was hit in the back and an arm, was taken to a local hospital and was in “fair” condition, Jackson said.

The girl was inside a home on the block when multiple shots were fired from a passing vehicle.

The injured girl does not live in the home but was visiting someone there, Jackson said.

Police did not release a motive in the shooting. A description of the suspect, or a suspect vehicle, was not available.

A man was fatally shot last night less than two miles away, near Bruce Randolph Avenue and York Street, at about the same time following an argument in a convenience store. Police do not believe the two shootings are related, Jackson said.
