Two Turkey Relay.

Come run the fun and unique Two Turkey Relay on Nov. 13 at 9:30 a.m. in Riverside Park, Salida. Randomly selected teams of two people pair up to each run a 2-mile relay course. Age and gender time bonuses add up to an unpredictable and fun event.

Polar Express.

The Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad will begin trips to the “North Pole” aboard The Polar Express beginning Nov. 19. The 75-minute round-trip journey brings the classic Chris Van Allsburg children’s book to life as hot chocolate and treats are served, and Santa and his helpers greet visitors upon arrival. Christmas carolers will entertain on the return to Durango. Children are encouraged to wear their pajamas for the ride. Prices vary by date.

Sugar Plum Festival.

The holiday season gears up in Gunnison with the 36th annual Sugar Plum Festival on Nov. 20, 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The festival showcases handmade gifts such as wreaths, Christmas-tree decorations, quilted tree skirts and table runners, stained glass, pottery, jewelry and canned goods. Approximately 75 booths, a visit from Santa Claus, food and more make the Sugar Plum Festival a sweet experience. 970-641-6931

Victorian holidays.

The Miramont Castle in Manitou Springs will celebrate the holiday season in the Victorian fashion Nov. 26-28. Visit the bedecked castle and enjoy homemade refreshments and lively entertainment. Open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. daily; tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children.
