Two people who died in a traffic crash in northwest Denver have been identified.
Elena Callas, 28, of Denver and Amanda Jones, 28, of Pensacola, Fla., died Tuesday night in a crash allegedly caused by a man who is suspected of drinking and driving.
Jones was a passenger in a Dodge Dakota pickup truck driven by 35-year-old Carl Cumby.
Cumby allegedly drove through a red light and is suspected of reckless driving and driving under the influence, police said.
Callas was the driver of a Ford Mustang that was hit by the Dodge at West 44th Avenue and Lowell Boulevard.
Cumby, who suffered injuries in the crash, is being treated at the Denver Health Medical Center. He has been arrested and is in custody of the Denver Sheriff’s Office while recovering, police said.
