The University of Colorado men’s basketball team lost sophomore forward/center Shane Harris-Tunks for the season after he tore his anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, coach Tad Boyle announced Friday.
Harris-Tunks, 6-feet-11, 250 pounds, injured his left knee during the first half-hour of Thursday’s practice.
“I am extremely disappointed for Shane,” Boyle said. “He has worked so hard putting himself in position to be a positive contributor on this team. He gained 25 pounds in the offseason and without a doubt was the team’s best ball-screen defender. On the bright side, Shane has three years remaining. He will learn from the bench and continue to develop from the sideline.”
Harris-Tunks, from Liverpool, New South Wales, Australia, averaged 1.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 11.7 minutes per game in 28 games as a true freshman last season. He started three games and led the Buffaloes in blocked shots with 14.
