COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—El Paso County investigators say they have no physical evidence determining who killed a 9-year-old girl before she was buried in a crawspace, but have statements from the two suspects blaming each other.

The Gazette in Colorado Springs reports that investigators testified Friday during a preliminary hearing to determine if there’s enough evidence to try the girl’s father, 29-year-old Hanif Zarif Sims, and 30-year-old Monique Alisa Lynch.

The hearing will resume Wednesday.

Lynch is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Genesis Sims, whose body was discovered in May in a vacant home in Monument. Sims is charged with second-degree murder.

The two were arrested in July in Nevada. They moved out of the Monument home last year.
