The driver of a 1998 Jeep Cherokee killed after her vehicle was hit head-on Sunday morning on U.S. 285 in Jefferson County has been identified as 51-year-old Alicia Wilson of Bailey.

Her 10-year-old son was taken to a Denver hospital with serious injuries, according to Colorado State Patrol spokesman Eric Wynn.

Wynn said the accident occurred about 9:25 a.m. near Springs Road after a southbound Dodge Durango driven by Shawn Lancaster, 23, of Pine crossed the center line of the highway for unknown reasons and hit Wilson’s Jeep.

Lancaster also received serious injuries, said Wynn.

Alicia Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wynn said no charges have been filed and the accident is still under investigation.Howard Pankratz: 303-954-1939 or hpankratz@denverpost.com.
