An administrative-law judge has recommended approving a settlement capping the costs Xcel Energy can recover from customers for its SmartGrid City project.
The utility’s SmartGridCity costs have been rising, but Xcel, staffers for the Colorado Public Utilities Commission and the Governor’s Energy Office reached a settlement in which Xcel wouldn’t try to recover costs above $44.5 million from customers statewide through electricity rates.
