DENVER—Democratic Rep. Ed Perlmutter is headed back to Congress for a third term from a suburban Denver district targeted by Republicans.
With 68 percent of the projected vote counted Tuesday, Perlmutter led Republican Ryan Frazier 52-44 percent.
Perlmutter performed a cartwheel before a rowdy crowd of Democrats after declaring victory. During the campaign, Republicans used video of Perlmutter turning cartwheels in negative ads.
Frazier pounded Perlmutter for siding with Democrats on the stimulus and the health care overhaul. Perlmutter defended his votes as necessary for the good of the country.
