It was unseasonably warm Saturday, but Denver missed setting a record by two degrees.

According to the National Weather Service, the Mile High City hit 77 in late afternoon. The record is 79, set during the Dust Bowl era in 1934.

The record for today is 78, set in 1999. The forecast is for highs in upper 70s along the Front Range.

A powerful cold front on Tuesday will drop temperatures at least 20 degrees, and by Veterans Day on Thursday, 9News says that highs likely will be in the 40s in Denver along with a chance for rain and snow.
